MVVA is seeking applicants for our 2026 Summer Internship Program. Interns work in person at one of MVVA’s offices—Brooklyn, Cambridge, or Denver. This is a paid opportunity ($25/hr + overtime) running from early June through the end of July, for a total of approximately nine weeks. 

Our goal is to introduce interns to the full range of project types at MVVA so they can explore connections between their skills, interests, and possibilities within the profession. At the start of the summer, we provide firm-wide office introductions and software training; we also organize site visits and social events for interns. Interns contribute to active design projects, working closely with MVVA’s full-time staff. Responsibilities may include model-making, research, site analysis, presentation development, and creating illustrative graphics or scale drawings.  

Who Should Apply

We look for interns who are critical thinkers and who are curious about both natural and built environments. Applicants should be motivated to work collaboratively and iteratively and should demonstrate developing skills in solving design problems using creative and technical methods. Strong communication skills—visual, written, and verbal—are essential. MVVA interns are typically current students enrolled in BLA or MLA programs through Fall 2026 or later.

1. Letter of Interest

- Include a brief, written introduction to you, the candidate – please share about your education and work experience, personal interests, and any other background information relevant to your interests in landscape architecture 

- Preferred MVVA office location, if any, and why 

- List of up to 3 references with their name, title / organization, and email (no letters of recommendation, just contact information please)

3. Portfolio or work samples, no more than 20 pages or 15MB total (a comprehensive book is not necessary; two or three sample projects that illustrate a candidate’s creative process and skills are sufficient) 

The Selection Process

MVVA will review materials submitted between January 1 and January 31, 2026. Interviews for selected candidates will be held in February, either via Zoom or in person, based on the strength of the submitted materials and reference feedback. Internship offers will be made in March.
