Hailing from Groton, Massachusetts, Sam is interested in landscape materials and fabrication as well as curating engagements between people and their environments.

A fanatic walker and former florist, Sam earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture with a minor in Industrial Design at Virginia Tech, where he received the Stanley Abbot Award for his thesis, “How Deep is the River?” and the 2021 Cary McCutcheon ’85 Travel Award. Before joining MVVA in 2022, Sam worked with the Community Design and Assistance Center in Blacksburg and KCS Landscape Management in Falls Church, Virginia.
