Herb is an expert in the integration of environmentally sustainable technologies and green infrastructure into landscape and urban design. He has been part of the leadership team of several environmentally ambitious projects, such as the George W. Bush Presidential Center and the new US Embassy in Mexico City, which have addressed urgent issues including soil contamination, stormwater management, resource conservation, habitat loss, and biodiversity. Herb is currently the Project Team Captain for the Port Lands Flood Protection and Enabling Infrastructure Project  (PLFPEIP) in Toronto, overseeing an integrated approach to public safety, habitat creation, public realm development, and urban connectivity.

Herb earned a Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Architecture from the Pennsylvania State University, where he was awarded the ASLA Certificate of Merit. He was the 2012 recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award from the Penn State Alumni Association. Herb was an integral part of the MVVA teams who were awarded the ASLA Award of Honor for the Boston Children’s Museum and the ASLA Award of Excellence (the highest honor given by the association) for the Wellesley College Alumnae Valley Landscape Renewal. Herb joined MVVA in 2003.
